When to speak with a support coordinator
A support coordinator helps you turn your plan into practical support. That may involve finding providers, understanding options or addressing a gap in your weekly routine. The aim includes building your own confidence in organising services.
For example, you might have a new work schedule and need personal care earlier in the morning. A coordinator can help you discuss options and organise the providers involved. They do not replace your right to choose those providers.
When to speak with a plan manager
A plan manager helps with the financial side of your plan, including claims, payments and tracking your budget. If you do not recognise an invoice, check what service it describes and raise it before approving it.
For example, if you receive a bill for a visit you think was cancelled, contact the provider about the visit and let your plan manager know that you are querying the invoice. Keep the dates and messages together so the issue is easier to follow.
Can you use both?
Yes, people can have funding for both roles in their plan. They serve different purposes. Check your own plan or speak with your my NDIS contact about the support available to you.
When both are involved, agree on how they share relevant information with your consent. If a coordinator recommends a related provider, ask about the relationship and other options so you can make an informed choice.
