Easy Read version →- What we help with
- Taking part in activities, seeing people and spending time in places you enjoy.
- What support can involve
- A worker can help you prepare, get there and take part. Activities start with your interests and comfort level.
- Where to start
- Tell us something you enjoy, or an activity you would like to try.
Your interests are the starting point.
An outing doesn’t need to be a big event to be worth looking forward to. It might be coffee with a friend, a walk, a local class or getting back to a hobby you’ve missed.
We help you take part in the activities you choose. That can include planning transport, checking access, communicating with others and having someone beside you while you get familiar with a place.
If a group feels like too much to start with, we can discuss an individual outing. You can try something, see how it feels and decide what you’d like to do next.
Activities you might enjoy.
Here are a few starting points. Your idea doesn’t need to be on the list.

Trying an art group without committing to a whole afternoon.
A participant enjoys drawing but has stopped attending a local group because the first visit feels daunting and the room can get noisy.
KIRAYA could help check the venue, organise transport and plan a shorter first visit with one-to-one support.
The participant could agree on a break or leave-early plan, then talk afterwards about what felt comfortable and what they would change.
A first step back into something they enjoy.
The next step might be another short visit, a quieter session or a different activity. The participant decides what is worth trying again.

FROM THE JOURNALNDIS community participation: planning an outing that suits youRead the guide ↗Can I choose my own activities?
Yes. Your interests and preferences are the starting point. Tell us what you enjoy, what you would like to try and what makes an outing comfortable for you.
Can I choose individual rather than group support?
We can discuss both options and the support you need. Ask the team about the current group activities and arrangements available.
What have you been wanting to get out and do?
Tell us about an interest, a place or someone you’d like to see. We’ll discuss the help that could make it possible.
